Cindy Stumpo, of C. Stumpo Development, wasn’t thinking about Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen when she bought a luxury property on Yarmouth Road in Brookline. She just liked the place and believed she could turn it into something beautiful. Of course, when it turned out that the home was just down the street from the property that’s rumored to be owned by Brady and Bundchen, Stumpo figured she could quickly flip the property for millions if she wanted to. (Pats owner Robert Kraft also lives in the neighborhood.)
Stumpo, known for starring in “Tough as Nails’’ on HGTV, said she received three offers on the home as soon as word got out that our famous quarterback and his supermodel wife might be moving down the street. Stumpo rejected those offers (“I’m not a flipper, I’m a builder,’’ she said), and is now preparing for a tear-down that will result in a limestone luxury manor worth between $5 million and $6 million, which is about average for Stumpo’s custom home projects.
Stumpo was so passionate about the rebuild that we had to ask her whether she really plans to get rid of the property or live there herself. “I’m emotionally attached to this property,’’ she hinted. “I’ve never been emotionally attached to this property before. Never in 25 years.’’
As for her television show, which had one successful season, Stumpo said she does plan to film more of her business. She won’t, however, return to HGTV. Stumpo says “Tough as Nails’’ looked for drama where there wasn’t any, and that she’s more interested in a straightforward show that teaches people about the business.
